So, new here and trying to learn what I can, and especially want to try lifting. In my new quest for fitness I’ve decided that the number on the scale is – perhaps for the first time in my life – not my primary goal.  I did discover I sure as heck don’t want it to go up, and I’d like it to go down, but those things are less important to me than they were in the past.  I’m trying to decide what my goals are, though.  What should I be shooting for?  So I’m curious what others here are working toward on their fitness goals.

I haven’t decided mine yet, though I think to start I want to work my way up via dumbbells to being able to do a squat and bench press and maybe overhead press of the bar, and then eventually add weights to the dang thing.  I’d like to learn how to do a deadlift.  I want to look better and have a lower body fat %, but don’t have a specific goal in mind on the number it should be.  I need more specifics.  Long range, I’ve always wanted to be able to through hike the big three trails. (Appalachian, Pacific Crest, Continental Divide) but realistically I’ll not be able to do any of those until I can retire. I’d love some type of similar outdoorsy fitness goals that can be done in smaller timeframes.  Or maybe section hike.  I despise running.  I did a half marathon a few years ago, and it was miserable.  I don’t really have a desire to ever do that again.  I love being in the woods though.  Maybe someday I can hike in Europe or something.  If I’m gonna dream…..

So what are your goals & dreams?

I have been to two treks till now – one easy and one moderate level. My next target is a moderate-difficult trek and I have a few months to prepare for it. So, I have been doing a mix of cardio and weight training.

My main goal is to reduce weight and build muscles. I have already lost around 7 kgs and plan to do a 3-4 kgs more. After that I will start aerobics to strengthen my core.

I am in a helthy weight, but I want to build muscles, mainly to be strong when I get older, because when such age comes, I couldnt train as I can do now, I want to be independient and strong all of my life.

My main goal is to increase my explosiveness, athleticism, and endurance. I am not particularly looking to gain muscle right now, as the sport I train for requires you to be “lean and mean” more-so than bulky.
