PILATES will teach you how to use your different ‘core’ muscles, how they support each other, and how to train different combinations of them, with or without equipment.
All forms of cardio have their advantages and disadvantages. IMHO the most important thing is do find a form of cardio that you will do with intensity on a consistent basis. If you enjoy swimming and work at it then stick to that program.
If you are looking to get tight abs, I recommend getting one of those huge exercise balls, a couple light weights (e.g., 15 lbs) and a book or video (or taking a class) about how to utilize the exercise ball for your ab workout.
Planet Fitness is becoming a commercial gym. They are sucking your money for their shitty service.
It is good to do it in the morning. Aside from burning calories, you are warming up your body for a long day and promotes good blood circulation thus giving you a better concentration. It also gives your body ti recuperate at night.
