SportyParticipant
Reward yourself at the end of every week, but only if you stick to your diet and exercise goals.
The reward can be anything you enjoy. From buying yourself something nice at the store, to taking the day off from work or going out with friends. Having little rewards each week can help motivate you and keep you on track.
SportyParticipantAt 13 it might be hard to gain too much muscle, but I would focus on doing more weight training.
MMA, BJJ, and Muay Thai are great for building explosiveness and stamina, but as far as gaining muscle, lifting weights and other resistance training is the way to go.
Once you reach your late teens and early 20s, you will be able to put on muscle even easier. Good luck!
SportyParticipantWeight loss can occur at any time, but I believe most of your weight loss is going to occur when you are sleeping and your body is burning calories to recover while not adding calories.
SportyParticipantThe Keto diet seems to work wonders for some people, especially when it comes to losing weight.
As long as you stick to the diet and do not ‘cheat’ on your meals, you should feel better and healthier than being on a normal Western diet.
SportyParticipantI’m a gamer as well. I find it relaxing sometimes to hop on games like Call of Duty and have a little fun.
I also LOVE watching sports. American football, basketball, and boxing are my favorite sports to watch.
SportyParticipantI think being a personal trainer would definitely fit what you’re looking to do for a career.
You can meet lots of different people, get to know them, and help them reach their health and fitness goals all while earning a decent income.
SportyParticipantCrossfit is great for getting in shape, but yes it can definitely be dangerous because of the wide variety and type of exercises involved. You have to start out slow and focus on technique. Like with any workout, you have to make sure you are properly warmed up and stretched out before you go into it.
SportyParticipantInteresting. I like 70s and 80s music a lot. Who would you say your Top 5 favorite 70s bands/artists are?
SportyParticipantI think eggs are a great food. They provide protein, fat, and plenty of vitamins and are both relatively cheap and easy to cook. From what I’ve read, the cholesterol in eggs is not nearly as bad for you as once thought.
SportyParticipantThat is true. I usually try to stick to olive oil when I cook, because from what I’ve read it is definitely healthier than normal vegetable oil. Just can get a bit expensive.
SportyParticipant@johndz I think it may hinder your recovery if you regularly train your legs anyways. But if you don’t work your legs much, it could be good for building muscular endurance in your legs.
SportyParticipantMy main goal is to increase my explosiveness, athleticism, and endurance. I am not particularly looking to gain muscle right now, as the sport I train for requires you to be “lean and mean” more-so than bulky.
SportyParticipantI’m sure by studying nutrition you would have a path to becoming a registered dietitian or even a personal chef. It just depends on what you feel like you would be better and more comfortable at.
SportyParticipantLike Jerry said, swimming is good. I used to have a lot of knee pain and I found that riding a bike or stationary bike seemed to be way, way easier on my joints than running.
SportyParticipantI have found that whenever I go for a long time without soda, I crave it less. But as soon as I start drinking it again, I get back into the habit of having one almost every day. It’s tough man, especially because I work a manual labor type of job and my body always craves sugar after a long day.
